The Story of a Ring…
Today i was inspired by the simplicity of vintage items. I’ve had these vintage buttons that i picked up at a vintage store when me and the Mr. went on a road trip to some places we’d never been in So-Cal like Carmel, Hearst Castle, etc. The little store was just off the beaten path and a great little find that it was!
Once there we found an old style picnic basket, the really authentic ones from the 50s and some vintage buttons.
I fell in love with the buttons, they looked adored, authentic and original. I grabbed them while my head filled with ideas on how i could re-purpose them. Of course the most obvious idea that came to my head at first was to stitch them onto a blouse or garment that i would make (eventually…) but it has been a year, and i can say that i still have had no use for them.
Of Coure, the Mr. already fears i may be a horder, and if i am not than i may be on the path to becoming one, and to be honest i did pit the buttons out of my mind for a while.
And as i lay thinking the other ( a habit of mine) i realized the rich history these buttons must have had. I lay there formulating a story behind the buttons, how they were made, who might’ve bought them, could they have saved a life even? And quickly i knew what the purpose of the buttons would be.
I knew that these buttons were meant to start a new chapter in their life, and they did not want to be on another shirt, but they would like to be work proudly on a finger.
Therefore, without further ado i present the wonderful Vintage Button Wire-Wrapped Ring.
Every Ring tells a story, mine tells two.
Enjoy & Hopefully this has inspired you!
